movie - alpha and omega

IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1213012/

movie title:
alpha and omega

main cast:
humphrey - omega wolf
kate - alpha wolfess that humphrey loves

synopsis:
well the title says it all. alphas (top dogs) go with alphas, omegas (trash) go with omegas. so the story is how alphas end up with omegas, and that it's not so bad, even if it goes against wolf culture.

humphrey and kate were not meant for each other, but after they were captured and sent to repopulate idaho's park, their adventure making their way back home changed their way of thinking that alphas and omegas cannot be together.

my score: 5 out of 10.
they got some famous ppl to voice the characters, but i dont think it matters much. it's basically an animal cartoon. and the storyline is pretty skimpy.

why you should watch it:
birds who play golf. other than that, i can't see why...

kdrama - he's beautiful (rewatching 2nd time: ep 9)

Park's outfits in episode 9

impressions of episode 9

episode 9 is my fave episode:
  • rudolph carol
  • the making of pig-rabbit
  • multiple 3-choose-1 situations
but first, a birthday celebration (of sorts)!
cute scene: she cannot do anything for her star. then she sees him run out of bottled water, and ran to get him a new bottle. followed by light bulb for the flickering light. at least Tae Kyung not that stupid. by then he figured out something wasnt quite right. so he decided to conduct a test. very hot coffee (to torture his unknown benefactor, typical Tae Kyung style) actually, he already knew who it could be. it was just a confirmation test.

the funniest bit was. she's improving! she knows how to bribe!

then she said happy birthday. she's way improving! she knows how to flatter!

from a stadium celebration.... to....

ROFL! a good korean birthday starts with seaweed soup!
then a birthday present
and some fun
perfect ending - a hug and a blessing

from the top, Shin Woo saw the hug and lost his cool!

3 choose 1 situation (idol cards)
this time, its the idol cards, and Shin Woo won cos his toon wore a bright smile. Jeremy came in 2nd. Tae Kyung is pissed off cos his card is the best seller and should be 1st by pig-rabbit. but he wont be upset. cos if he is he loses. but he is upset. haha

the lost hairpin
the first to notice Mi Nam moody is Shin Woo
and he volunteer to help him search after the party.
the evil He Yi puts on the hairpin to tease Mi Nam. since Mi Nam is a guy, he shouldnt want a hairpin and if he lost one, he can just buy another for his sis later on.
Shin Woo cant help Mi Nam cos the manager thinks Shin Woo and Mi Nam have a thing going on between them, so he takes Shin Woo out of the equation and ask Tae Kyung to help instead
He Yi go and tease Tae Kyung about the hairpin too. but unfortunately for her, she didnt know Tae Kyung bought it for Mi Nam! lol
so its not a cheap pin, its 100k won! so he took it back from He Yi to return to Mi Nam.
this makes He Yi even madder, cos he spent so much on a cheap pin for Mi Nam!
but when Tae Kyung ask Mi Nam about going to find her treasured item - ie hairpin, wanting to return it to her, she said she isnt going to look for it (she cant, its not missing, its stolen!) so he is now pissed about it too! cos he cant give it to her.

Mi Nam the red-nosed reindeer takes a shower but all is well

Operation Dweji-tokki
How it came about:
in the van on the way back, Shin Woo shared with the guys that Mi Nam is actually now more sad when he didnt want to look for the item. Jeremy say that's cos he knew he couldnt find it so he said that. Tae Kyung now know what happened. and the rest as we know it, is dwaeji-tokki history!

Tae Kyung cannot give it direct as Mi Nam didnt ask for it direct, so he has to give it to her indirectly. he complain to himself the headache that dwaeji-tokki is giving him. lol. which gave him the inspiration!

3 choose 1 situation (drinks)
After the surprise shower, Mi Nam caught a cold. is it gonna be water/Tae Kyung, hot tea/Shin Woo, or juice/Jeremy? lol lol lol
Shin Woo won! Jeremy 2nd again. Tae Kyung IS LAST!

3 choose 1 situation (colours)
Mi Nam's fave color.

for the idol photoshoot:
  • lime/green/girls like/Tae Kyung
  • flowers/white/pure/Mi Nam
  • dog/black/guys like/Shin Woo
  • banana/yellow/fun/Jeremy
Mi Nam's politically correct answer: like any other guy. likes black.
Tae Kyung catches her on her own. and asks her. she say white.
Tae Kyung say she is now cunning as well
He Yi, who caught the conversation on the sly, is now super mad cos she got serious GIRL competition!
now is He Yi turn to ask her which is her fave color/guy.
pls turn to next episode for the answer!

scenes between Mi Nam and the 2nd lead, Shin Woo. so here are the ones from episodes 7 to 9

dorama - the Japanese the Japanese don’t know

official website:
http://www.ytv.co.jp/nihongo/index.html

drama title:
Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo [日本人の知らない日本語]
oso known as the Japanese the Japanese don’t know

main cast:
Naka Riisa as Kano Haruko

synopsis:
salesgirl turns temp japanese language teacher to help out her old school teacher who had to be hospitalised for a period. cos she had a life transforming experience in high school when she was rescued from truancy by this teacher, and now wants to be a high school teacher too. this temp job was to be a stepping stone to a teaching career.
instead of just teaching, she found herself learning about the japanese language and about the japanese themselves, as she found out the confusion foreigners are met with when they come to live and speak in japan.

my score: 7 out of 10.
how i derived that score. if you want to know more about japanese language and culture, this is the drama for you.

why you should watch it:
riisa is a dream to watch. she has always had a charismatic screen presence, and in her bright outfits and gigantic hair bows and loud voice, you feel you can really learn something about the japanese as she teaches it. dont you wish you had a teacher like her?

movie - there's something about mary

IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129387/

movie title:
there's something about mary

main cast:
ben stiller as ted, all round good guy but hopeless nerd, who likes mary
cameron diaz as mary, all round gorgeous gal
matt dillon as healy, the private eye hired by ted to spy on mary
w. earl brown as warren, mary's brother, who is subnormal.

synopsis:
nerdy ted gets gorgeous mary to go to prom with him, but major personal disaster strikes him and it didnt happen. but 13 years on, he still can't forget about that girl.
he is still too nerdy to look for her himself, so he sends healy, a private eye, to check it out. turns out the investigator falls for her too, and lies to ted to get him out of the picture. healy then tries to con his way into mary's heart. meanwhile, ted found out from other ppl that healy lied about mary, so he finally decided to go look for her himself.

my score: 8 out of 10.
it's not a comedy for the kids. it's rated R for strong comic sexual content and language. but for adults, it's all good fun and quite a load of not so politically correct behaviour (cruelty to animals, homosexuals, or the subnormal)

why you should watch it:
it's all about mary. what? you mean you actually watch it for ben stiller or matt dillon? get your head on straight. oh, you're a girl? then ok, lor.

Kuroki Meisa as Yomogi Riko (a young female yakuza ward boss, love interest for Tsuyoshi)

So he sends 5 of his best ward bosses to an old folks' home to be helpers (hiding their yakuza identity - literally too, they have to cover up their extensive body tattoos - as the home is in another gang's territory). their discovery of the purpose and their performance during the mission will determine who gets the executive spot. As they learn to do the job of helpers, they also deal with issues of the old folks, apply the code of the yakuza in their mission and handle their own issues. so at the end of the mission, who got promoted? that's for you to watch and find out!

my score: 8 out of 10.
how i derived that score. edutainment at its best. you learn about old folks issues, code of the yakuza, and the cash cow that is the retirement homes for old people who have been put out to pasture. and damn if Tsuyoshi isnt the coolest baddie ever. he practically chain smokes and fights like a demon.

why you should watch it:
learn about operations of retirement homes, the difficulties of a sole caregiver, the evil that prey on the weak old folks, and gang fights!

kdrama - beethoven virus

official website:
http://www.imbc.com/broad/tv/drama/thoven/

drama title:
베토벤 바이러스 / Beethoven Virus

main cast:
Kim Myung Min as Kang Gun Woo Senior (Conductor)
Lee Ji Ah as Du Ru Mi, the woman sandwiched between 2 cool guys
Jang Geun Suk as Kang Gun Woo Junior

synopsis:
multiple threads all related to the trials and tribulations of setting up a city orchestra. you got a problem? yup, from politics to conductor to orchestra member issues, it's what keeps this drama ticking. all through it, there's a love triangle that kinda sorted itself out during the episodes. and Ru Mi even has a hearing loss issue.

my score: 6 out of 10.
how i derived that score. this was a let down after i had watched "He's Beautiful". still, i found something wonderful in the music. classic is classic. just close your eyes when you see actors pretend to play musical instruments. and the younger Guen Suk is as charming as ever, if not even more refreshing.

why you should watch it:
for the music, for the younger Guen Suk who is pure magnetism, and for that electric violin duo performance during the orchestra auditions. (tip: one of the duo is a real live gorgeous electric violinist from Bellatrix)

movie - the expendables

However, she stays behind, putting herself in danger. Stallone decides to go back in to save her, and his band chips in with their 2 cents.

my score: 7 out of 10.
it's all 7 points for action.

why you should watch it:
if anything, just to see the scene with trio of Stallone, Arnie and Bruce (Willis). hell, watch it for all the action effects!
